News had come out that a sequel to Tomb Raider was in the works last September, and now we have an update on when production would begin.
According to Geek Vibes Nation, Tomb Raider 2 was originally set to start shooting in April, but now the movie is aiming for a production start this summer, possibly in July or August. We don’t have any news on casting yet, but Alicia Vikander is expected to return as the new incarnation of Lara Croft. Roar Uthaug is also said to be passing on the direcor’s chair, and this time we’re going to have Ben Wheatley (Kill List, Free Fire) at the helm.
It’s also worth noting that the Coronavirus Outbreak could be a factor when it comes to the movie. MGM had just seen a major delay with No Time to Die, pushing the April release date by 7 months. Now the movie is set to come out in November, competing alongside the release of Marvel’s Eternals.
We don’t have a plot synopsis for the movie yet, but the first movie did give us a tease with Lara wielding her dual pistols. We’re possible going to look more into the secrets behind Lara getting her inheritance, and of course, we should expect more tombs to be raided.
The Tomb Raider sequel is expected to come out March 19, 2021.
